Upgrading our bare metal server

Currently RubyTogther is paying $76.11 USD a month for our bare metal with the following specs:

RAM	4 x 8GB Micron ECC
Part Number: 18KSF1G72AZ-1G6E1
Processor	3.6GHz Intel® Xeon® E3-1270 v3 Quad-Core Haswell incl. Hyper-Threading Technology
Hard Drive	Samsung SSD 845DC EVO - 240 GB - 2,5" SATA III
Motherboard	Intel Coporation S1200RP

I’m thinking of upgrading to a new bare metal server (65.24 USD excl VAT) which provides more value:

CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-6700 Quad-Core Skylake incl. Hyper-Threading Technology
RAM: 64GB
Hard Drive: 2 x 500GB in Raid 1 configuration

Based on PassMark Intel vs AMD CPU Benchmarks - High End, our current CPU has a current score of 9,845 which is a little lower compared to the Skylake i7-6700 has a score of 10,032. It seems like the new offering is going to cost more or less the same but provide us with more resources.

The only downside of this is that we’ll have to backfill all of our benchmarks. I’m also wondering if we should use a less expensive server so that we can add more servers into the mix allowing us to run benchmarks in parallel on two different servers.

:+1: This would speed up our runs significantly
